Tank Fabrication
Lay out of the gas tank parts on stainless sheet. This was transfered from a cardboard pattern that was held in place on the frame to dertermine the desired proportion and shape.
Oil tank parts- 5" exhaust pipe for semi-truck and end blanks from sheet. This was sized after calculating the oil capacity needed for the engine.
The shaped perimeter peice on the floor began as a long flat strip like the one beside it. Starting the tank fabrication by shaping the perimeter peices first. Click photos to Enlarge.

I use whatever fits; like this old (obsolete and empty) gas cylinder as a hammer form. This worked well to roll the edge around the big end of the tank to mate with the blister shaped peice that will be formed for the sides.
The begining of shaping the side peice over an old (obsolete and empty) oxygen bottle with the valve removed and the top cut off. I also use the dish on the bottome of the cylinder as a form.
