6. Wrap it around the pipe and line up the edges of the overlap with the edge located at the length where you want to make the cut. Then mark the pipe following the edge.


7. Carefully cut the line.


8. Since I'm going to make a clamp, this piece of pipe has to be split down the side. To put a straight line on center of a piece of pipe or round, simply lay it in a piece of angle (for this size pipe I used 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" angle) and place the line using the edge of the angle as a guide or straight edge.


 


9. To cut the slot use a 1/4" thick rock on the angle grinder. Clamp the piece down good. With the edge of the rock carefully follow the line and score the surface. Take time to keep it straight.


10. Take three to four passes progressively going deeper until cutting through.
